Tashkent hosted the 26th meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Uzbek Commission for Economic Cooperation, which was held jointly with Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, and Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The sides discussed in detail the issues of strengthening partnership in the socio-economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres, emphasizing the high dynamics of bilateral relations.
Positive dynamics is observed in the sphere of import and export supplies between the countries. Thus, by the end of 2024, the trade turnover increased by more than 5%, exceeding the $ 10 billion mark. In the first nine months of this year, the volume of mutual trade increased by another 8%, which indicates a steady expansion of economic ties.
"Russian electronic trading platforms make a significant contribution to the development of trade and economic cooperation. In particular, according to the results of last year, the volume of Uzbek-made products sold at the Wildberries company’s site amounted to $ 605 million. Thus, our marketplace has become the largest distribution network for Uzbek goods," Denis Manturov said.
Denis Manturov noted that the total portfolio of investment projects is about 55 billion rubles. Currently, over 3,000 enterprises with Russian participation are successfully operating in Uzbekistan, which is about 20% of all companies with foreign capital represented in the Republic.
Industrial cooperation is being strengthened both in the field of mutual supplies of industrial products and in the field of localization of Russian enterprises in Uzbekistan. Energy cooperation is actively developing in the fields of energy, geological exploration, mining and hydropower. A landmark event was the start of work on the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Jizzakh region.
As a result of the event, a Roadmap for strengthening interregional cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan for 2025−2030 was signed. The document was signed by the co-chairs of the intergovernmental Commission Denis Manturov and Jamshid Khodjaev. In addition, in their presence, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between JSC SME Corporation and the Agency for the Development of Light Industry of Uzbekistan, which opens up new opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses in both countries.
These solutions form the basis for the development of industrial and economic dialogue, which will take place within the framework of the 6th International Industrial Exhibition INNOPROM. Central Asia", which will be held in Tashkent from April 20 to 22, and Denis Manturov will be one of the main speakers.
